7 Top job search etiquette tips...

Keep people who help you in the loop. If they are invested enough in you to help, you should be courteous and let them know what came of it. Eat neat and watch your table manners. Sometimes you'll be taken out to lunch or dinner during the interview process. Remember, this is simply another form of your interview. Don't let your guard down. 

Tip off your references about what calls to expect. Give them a heads up about what company will be calling and the kinds of things that they can address to best help your cause. Learn and practice the art of thank you notes. Prompt, thoughtful thank you notes are due to everyone who assists you in your path to career advancement. Failure to do so can easily give the impression that you aren't interested in the position. Don't be a networking vampire. Networking is about building relationships. People like to help when they know someone, but no one likes to be taken for granted or asked for more than they can legitimately provide by way of help.

Be true to your word. No matter what the situation, never promise more than what you deliver. Be professional at all times. That means everything from your use of language to demonstrating that you know your manners. Keep discussion away from your personal life and focus on the company and its needs along with your experience, skills and achievements.
